Breastfeeding Support
Birth centers generally have a high rate of success with clients breastfeeding and The Birth Center is no exception. Our breastfeeding success rate for our clients is 96% at the six week postpartum check up . And many of our clients go on to breastfeed up to or even beyond the first year of life. Breastfeeding assistance is provided to clients immediately after birth, during home visits, post-partum office visits, and by phone. All members of the birth center team are lactation trained and able to help in most situations. If more intensive assistance is needed, you will be promptly referred to a certified lactation consultant.
The Birth Center received designation as "Baby Friendly" by the World Health Organization in 2009. We are proud to have been the first facility in Sacramento County to be awarded this designation.
